Skill Upgrading Training ” Earning While Learning”

On January 8, 2026, a 10-day Hotel Technician Training was successfully conducted in Bhaktapur with the aim of enhancing technical skills in the hospitality sector. The program was organized by the Hotel Association of Bhaktapur (HAB) in collaboration with Hotel Association Nepal and the ENSURE Project at Club Bagmati, with participation from 20 trainees (5 female and 15 male).

The training focused on producing skilled technical manpower to improve service quality, safety, and guest satisfaction in hotels. It combined both theoretical knowledge and practical sessions, covering areas such as hotel safety, communication skills, electrical and plumbing systems, electronics, kitchen equipment, guest room preparation, air conditioning, and preventive maintenance.

During the closing program, representatives highlighted that such training programs have been conducted nationwide for the past three years to create employment opportunities and strengthen workforce capacity within Nepal.

HAB Bhaktapur President Kirtan Awal emphasized that the training aims to enable hotel staff to solve common technical issues independently, reducing reliance on external experts. The initiative is part of the “Learning by Earning” program, under which HAB has also conducted barista training, fire safety exercises, and plans to introduce more advanced training in the future.

Local representatives expressed that such skill development programs benefit both employers and job seekers, improve service standards, and contribute to tourism promotion and visitor satisfaction in Bhaktapur.
