In June 2021, during the peak of the COVID-19 crisis in Nepal, the Hotel Association of Bhaktapur (HAB) extended strong support to Bhaktapur Municipality by contributing to the COVID Fund for the establishment of an oxygen plant.
At a time when hospitals were struggling with severe oxygen shortages, this initiative became a life-saving effort for the community. HAB, representing the hospitality sector of Bhaktapur, stepped forward despite the tourism industry being heavily affected by lockdowns and travel restrictions.
The contribution aimed to help install a reliable oxygen generation plant to ensure uninterrupted oxygen supply for COVID-19 patients and other critical cases in local hospitals. This support reflected HAB’s deep sense of social responsibility and solidarity with the local government and residents.
Even during economic hardship, the hospitality community of Bhaktapur demonstrated that tourism is not only about business — it is also about humanity, unity, and community care.
